Hi -
I've got a Phillips DSR708 single-drive DirecTivo that is exhibiting problems with pixelation and reception problems on satellite input 2. The symptoms show up on some channels, but not others.
We're still going to try and track down a few more possibilities for problems with the dish/cabling setup, but it's starting to look ever more like a problem with the Tivo box itself (e.g. a bad tuner.)
Also, it is almost certainly not a hard drive failure, because I just did an upgrade to a brand new Seagate hard drive, and the same reception/satellite issues that were there before the hd upgrade are still there after the upgrade. The HD upgrade seems to work perfectly fine.
Now, I know there are ways to get replacement DSR708 boxes. Is it possible to swap my existing hard drive (the new, larger, upgrade drive) into the replacement DSR708 and get it to work? Will I be able to preserve the content of that drive (settings, programs, etc?) I assume it's not possible to put my hard drive in a non-DSR708 box and expect it to work.
Any advice for fixing my current DSR708 that doesn't involve getting a replacement?
Thanks for any advice you might be able to share....
