  • HardDrive Failure

So I have an older Series 2 TiVo that originally had an 80GB HD in it, I later added in a 100GB drive to have some extra recording space.
Well yesterday the 100GB drive failed (it doesnt power on anymore).... I am just wondering if anyone can help a total newb. I obviously dont care about saving any programs on there, I just want to know if there is anyway I can restore the information on the original harddrive back to its original state, just like it was when I took it out of the box 2 years ago. I have been reading things that I need to "divorce" the drives, but I dont understand how to do this, and im not really that good with the MFStools that I downloaded.
If anyone... really anyone could help me out, that would be great.

    thanks!

It's pretty complicated, and there's no guarantee that the A drive isn't also bad.

    We'd recommend a "replace" kit:

well in theory that the A drive is ok.... can you possibly give me some help on what to do, maybe a link or something?

I just dont have the cash right now for a new drive. I know that my A drive at least boots up since I can hear it spinning... so if possible, I would like to give it a try. Im pretty good with figuring stuff out... I just dont know the commands I would need to use to get it working again.

      Thanks!

We really don't have any way beyond selling you a drive, or formatting yours, if it's good. The info for that is here:
