    Hughes DVR40 pixelation problems

    Hello, I started to get some pixelation problems on a few channels. CNN 202 and the Scifi Channel for some reason. No problems with other channels. Sat signals seemed fine so I thought my hd was dying.
    It lasted for about 2 months so I swapped out the hard drive for a unit purchased here at wk.
    I'm happy with the new capacity, but the pixellaton problems haven't improved.
    Any idea what might be causing these problems?
    It's strange that the problem is only with a few channels.

    If you replay the pixellation, is it exactly the same the next time?

      Yes, the pixelation is the same when played back.

      Also noticed that in addition to channel 202, 255, now 242,and 354 all pixelate regularly now with sound cutting out as well. No problems on other channels.

      Dual nlb, oval dish, both tuners hooked up, svideo out.
      Sat 1 100%
      Sat 2 86%

        It sounds like you might have a bad tuner. You might try going through setup again and choosing one tuner. See if the pixellation goes away. If it does, you know you have a bad SAT 2 tuner.

          I tried switching tuners while watching the same pixelating channel and did notice that the picture was fine on one, and bad on the other.

          How much is a tuner repacement or repair?
