I recently ordered an additional drive for a Series 1 SONY SVR-2000 from Weaknees. The install failed, by which I mean that the Tivo never got past the "Almost there" screen. Yet, Weaknees support said they thought that the primary drive had "married" with the new drive and so it was a catch-22. Could not boot without the drive, but could not boot with the new drive.

They are shipping me a replacement drive and my plan is just to scrap the original 30GB drive but I'd really like to try to get some programs off it--even if it is just to video or DVD.

is there any way to go about that?
