  • Series 2 TCD540080 still no video after power supply change.

    Hello Tivo enthusiasts,

I have a lifetime subscription to TCD540080 Series 2 when all the video outputs died (coax, s-video, rca's 1 and 2). When powered up, only the green light comes on, fan spins, hard drive clicks, but no video.

I borrowed the power supply from another brand new TCD540080 and that did not fix the problem. It showed the exact same symptoms.

I'm guessing it's the main board. Since I want to preserve my lifetime subscription, any suggestions on how to fix this or which parts to replace? I have a brand new Tivo which I can pull parts from.

If the lifetime subscription is stored on the SST eeprom on the mainboard. Can I maybe unsolder this and move it to a new TIVO box? Or are there other components on the mainboard the subscription is tied to?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

The lifetime sub is tied to the chip on your motherboard. You might consider calling TiVo to see what they recommend.

      Hi Jeff,

Do you know which chips exactly? I pretty handy with a soldering iron, and I would like to attempt to do the swap myself.

      Thanks.
