  • Video glitchy from an HR10-250

    Happy Thanksgiving!

All of the analogue video outputs for my HR10-250 have the same symptom. Every few seconds white flashes or glitches can be seen on the screen. It happens very fast and is very distracting. It almost looks like one or several scan lines are white for a frame or two. I confirmed it is the HR10 by connecting it to several inputs of the TV. My HR20 at the same inputs on the same channel does not do this. Using component video and changing the resolution has no effect on the symptom. Bad power supply?

So this doesn't happen with HDMI? That would be pretty unusual.

If it does happen with HDMI, then the problem is most likely a hard drive. You should try a "replace" kit:

So the white flashes are read errors?

Do the TiVo overlays come from the drive or hardware? The flashes can be seen with the overlays also.

I will try the HDMI and let you know if the flashes/glitches are there.

The HD is a WD dated 2004, maby its due.

If the flashes come on the TiVo screens as well, then that likely is not drive related, and is something that probably cannot be fixed cost-effectively I'm sorry to say.
