  • Troubleshooting Dead Series 2. Steps?

My Series 2 (orig. 60 hours, upgraded to two drives, 300 hours) has been chugging along great for about three years now - no problems.

Found it this morning frozen with a paused image. I could hear a drive spinning at the time.

When I unplugged it and plugged it in again, I hear the fans on and I get the welcome message, but there are no lights on the front, and nothing happens.

So, what are reasonable troubleshooting steps to start with? Should I pull the drives and try some sort of repair program? Should I just start by trying a new PS?

I will dig into the forum here and get more reading done. Sorry if this is a blatant repost of a common question. My wife is pissed about the 50 hours of Little Bear...

    Thanks for the advice.

If you're getting the Welcome, Powering Up message, then you likely have a working power supply. The problem is most likely a bad drive. Best/easiest solution is to get one new large drive - make sure to get a replace kit:
