  • Swapping Hard Drives

I have an older RCA DVR40 with an upgraded hard drive where one tuner has recently died but the hard drive seems to be o.k. I just purchased a new DVR40 with a standard hard drive. Can I take my old hard drive out and install it in the new box? If so, will all of my currently recorded programs, seasons pass lists, etc. be saved?
    Thanks for any help!!

Yes, you can, but to use the drive in the newer unit, you'll need to reserialize it by doing a "clear and delete everything" which will then erase the settings and shows. Otherwise, you'll get the Hardware Error #51.
    Been here a long time . . .
