All:

I had the following symptoms...

Pre-PS failure:
Intermittent pixillation and missing video
Slightly elevated temperature (warmer to the touch)

Failure:
Hard disk spin/fans spin
No front LED
No video at all
Light seen from Optical audio out

Replaced the PS, and all is well now, temp looks to be down and haven't seen the pixillation issues again, but I know I could just be lucky and I could still have an HD issue.

Replacement took all of 10 minutes with nothing complicated at all.
